Brake pad and disc replacement in Warsaw
We inspect wear and professionally replace brake pads and discs to restore confident braking.
What brake pad and disc services are available at Doc Serwis
Front brake pad replacement with caliper mechanism service.
Includes cleaning the slides, greasing the contact points and checking that the piston moves freely;
Front pad and disc replacement.
Done as a complete job: the old discs come off, new discs and friction linings go on, and the pairing is bedded in;
Rear pad and disc replacement.
On cars with an electric parking brake the mechanics also connect a diagnostic tool to retract the caliper piston correctly;
Partial brake fluid change during a pad replacement.
Recommended at every scheduled friction-part replacement, as the fluid absorbs moisture and loses its heat resistance over time.
All work is carried out to the vehicle manufacturer's technical specifications. Once the new parts are fitted, the brakes are bedded in and braking efficiency is checked.

Brake pad and disc replacement is one of the most frequently requested braking-system jobs at the Doc Serwis workshop. We cover the full range of work on the friction components of the braking system, for cars and SUVs of every make and model year.
Before the pads or discs come off, the mechanics carry out an inspection: they measure the remaining friction material, assess the condition of the disc faces and check how the caliper slides and pistons move. This shows which parts genuinely need replacing and which still have life left in them.
What affects the price of brake disc and pad replacement
At Doc Serwis the price of a brake pad and disc replacement is always agreed with the customer before any work starts, and it depends on several factors:
- The make, model and year of the car. Replacing discs and pads on an ordinary passenger car costs less than on a full-size SUV, where the job is dearer. The parts are larger, the braking system takes greater loads and the fitting itself is more involved;
- The scope of the job. Replacing the pads alone always costs less than doing pads and discs together. If the discs still have enough thickness and a flat working surface they can stay, and the mechanic confirms this during the inspection. But if the car being quoted has discs that are already warped or worn below the minimum thickness, replacing the lot is the only sensible option;
- Front or rear axle. Front pads and discs and rear pads and discs are not always priced the same. On the rear axle some cars use calipers with a built-in parking brake mechanism, and on newer models - an electrically actuated one. Working on them calls for a dedicated diagnostic tool, which is reflected in the price of a rear brake pad replacement;
- The cost of the parts. Much depends on who makes the pads and discs: original or premium-segment parts (Brembo, TRW, Bosch, ATE) cost more than budget equivalents. Doc Serwis fits proven components that meet the required friction performance and service life.
The price list for brake pad and disc replacement is available on the Doc Serwis website. The quoted price for a brake job always includes servicing the caliper and checking braking efficiency once everything is fitted. The exact cost for your particular car can be given after an inspection or in a conversation with our service manager.
What a brake disc and pad replacement at Doc Serwis includes
At Doc Serwis the price of a brake pad replacement always covers more than bolting on the new parts: it includes the supporting work without which braking performance cannot be fully restored. A standard replacement therefore includes:
- inspecting and measuring the remaining thickness of the pads and discs before starting;
- removing the caliper and cleaning its body, slides and seats of rust and old grease;
- checking that the caliper piston and slide pins move freely and freeing them if they are seized;
- fitting the new pads with a dedicated grease on the contact points to prevent squealing;
- fitting new discs (where the job calls for it) and checking them for run-out;
- a partial brake fluid change, where needed, if the level has dropped or the fluid has darkened;
- a braking efficiency check once the work is done, plus bedding in the "disc-pad" pairing.
Priced this way the job makes far more sense, because cutting corners on the supporting work leads to squealing, uneven wear and a shorter life for the new parts. That is why Doc Serwis follows the full procedure, so the result lasts.
Frequently Asked Questions
There is no single time-based interval, it all depends on how the car is used. On city cars that spend most of their life in traffic, braking constantly, the question can come up as early as 25 000-35 000 km. On mostly motorway driving the figure can reach 60 000-70 000 km or more. Mileage alone is not a reliable guide; measuring the actual thickness of the friction material is far more dependable. On most cars the minimum permitted thickness is 2-3 mm, and once the pads get close to it replacement is mandatory regardless of mileage. It is worth checking at every service, or at least once a year.
Not always, but it does need checking. During a pad and disc replacement the Doc Serwis mechanics always measure the remaining disc thickness and assess the state of its surface. If it is within tolerance, with no warping, deep grooving or uneven wear, the disc can stay. But if the thickness has come right down to the minimum or the face is uneven, paying for discs and pads together is justified even when the discs are still "holding up". New pads on a worn disc do not bed evenly, wear out faster and never give consistent braking. In practice, doing pads and discs in one go often works out better than coming back in another 10 000-15 000 km just for the discs.
